Life Legacy
Helen Olson, 86, of Rockford, died peacefully in her sleep at 10:45 am Monday June 3, 2013. The daughter of Howard H. & Grace (Ollman) Knodle. Married Roger Allen Olson in Rockford October 23, 1948. She was an Office Manager at East High for 28 years earning Secretary of the Year. Member of Christ UMC, Taught Sunday School & sang in the choir for many years, member of Retired Secretaries and an active member of her bridge club. Started Susannah Wesley Guild in 1946 and continued to participate with Guild Members up until her death.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Jernigan; sons, Jonathon (Cora) Olson, William (Kathleen) Olson and David (Jackie) Olson. Sister, Ruth (Doug) Yeager; Brother, Howard “Bud” (Carolyn) Knodle. Grandchildren, Andrea (Brian) McDonough, Thomas Jernigan, Jared Jernigan, Roger Teano, Jonathon Olson Jr., Kyle Olson, Kayla Olson and her fiancé (Tyler Dahlstrand), Michelle Bilo, Adam Olson & Joshua Olson. Great-grandchildren, Annika Jernigan & Evan McDonough. Predeceased by her Husband, Roger Olson; Son, Stephen Olson; grandchildren,
David Jernigan, Matthew Olson & Ryan Olson.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m Saturday June 8, 2025 at Christ United Methodist Church at 4509 Highcrest Road Rockford with the Rev. Jane Eesley officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m Friday June 7, 2025 at the church. Burial at Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in care of the family.
