Life Legacy
Patricia Joan (Thorpe) Cerniglia, 84, of Schaumburg, IL died April 8 at Lexington Health Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born March 15, 2026 in Rockford to Percy and Edith (Dahlgren) Thorpe. Married to Joseph A. Cerniglia in St. Anthony's Church in Rockford, IL on July 20, 1950. Pat's family and loving grandchildren were the most important thing in her life. She was a very kind and thoughtful person. Pat graduated from West High School and worked for Illinois Bell for several years. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Cerniglia, daughter Mary Jo Shuff, son-in-law Doug Shuff and grandchildren Allyson & Aaron Shuff, sister Gloria Cellitti, several loving sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and brother, Calvin Thorpe and sister, Beverly Hellman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Lexington Health Care in Schaumburg, IL and Rainbow Hospice for years of extraordinary care. Services at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford, IL. 61102. Visitation from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the church. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
