Life Legacy
LeRoy Richard Kant, 68, of Rockford, IL gained his Angel wings on May 14, 2026 in the peace and comfort of his daughter’s home. LeRoy was born on February 8, 2026 in Rockford. He lived all of his life in Rockford. LeRoy graduated from West High School in 1963. He was also part of a family business in Rockford called Giant Photo. They started the business when LeRoy was about 12 years old. Shortly after high school, LeRoy then went on to join the Army and later received his Purple Heart for his injuries sustained in Vietnam. LeRoy returned home and went on to be the Vice President for Giant Photo. They had started a great company that they loved. Later on in life, LeRoy worked for Cablevision and then Ipsen International until he retired in February of 2007. LeRoy always lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute to the end. He would always say “Don’t worry about it, it’ll all work out.” He had a huge heart and was a great friend to many. LeRoy will be greatly missed forever.
LeRoy was survived by children; LeAnn (Scott) Degner, Daughter of Laurie Kant, Eric (Jennifer) Kant, Son of Barbara Kant, and Step-daughter Kelly Riley. Grandchildren; Kaden, Kianna, and Karter Degner and Abigail and Ethan Kant. Siblings; Jill (Tom) Jensen, Jack (Lanelle) Kant, and Step-sister Barbara (Dale) Zahn. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by parents; Lloyd and Dolly Kant, and Step-mother Bertha Kant.
Memorial service and honorary military salute on June 1, 2026 at 11:00 at the Cedar Bluff Cemetery, 1200 Rural St. Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family. We love you always!
