Life Legacy
Gregory Dale Stouffer passed away peacefully on January 22, 2016, at Rockford Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. Greg was born March 8, 1951, in Elmhurst, Illinois. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Capron and was raised in the Church of the Brethren. He graduated North Boone High School in 1969 and attended Hesston College, Hesston, Kansas. Greg played football and competed in track for the North Boone Vikings, and played trumpet in the band. An Eagle Scout, he also was a Wood Badger as an adult. Greg enjoyed raising Black Angus in 4-H, including his award-winning Black Satin, and his horses. Greg married his beloved bride, Barbara Titman, September 11, 1971. They raised four children and are the proud grandparents of six grandchildren. Greg joined Bryant Company in 1971. He was a dedicated lifetime employee, serving as a territory manager and inside engineer and sales manager. In his heart he was an avid outdoorsman and hobbyist, also enjoying kites, trains, fishing and camping with his children, grandchildren, and friends. He immersed himself in his children’s BMX, track, and football activities, and everyone in the stands knew who he was by his exuberant cheerleading. Always full of “true grit”, Greg was a real firecracker, a Jack of all trades and man of many hats, everyman’s engineer, patriot, and Renaissance man. He loved daring you to “go ahead, make my day.” Greg had a jolly sense of humor and a perpetual twinkle in his eye. He loved music and a hearty celebration. He was generous and a true sentimentalist. Devoted to his family, he never met anyone who was not a friend. Greg is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons Dale and Brian, daughters Katie (Dan Orto) and Jennifer (Bryan Lang), grandchildren Alex, Jessica, Katlynn, Matthew, Nicole, and Stephanie; mother Lois Stouffer, sister Cynthia (Ralph Grover), and many cousins, friends, and compatriots. He was predeceased by his father, Dale; and grandparents Avery and Sadie Stouffer, Waddams Grove, and Elmer and Frieda Gassmann (Lena).
