Life Legacy
Walter Dobnick, age 97, died January 29, 2016, after a long illness. He was born on October 2, 1918, at home on Catherine Street in Rockford, IL to Ella (Matvachuk) Dobnick and Andrew Dobnick. He attended Rockford schools and married the love of his life, Marion (Bordner) on December 7, 1946. In the mid 1950’s Walt and Marion moved to California where they enjoyed many years of happiness. Walter was a proud member of the Teamsters, working many years in the plumbing profession. After retirement, Walt and Marion enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, cruises, and traveling around the world. After Marion’s death in 2000, Walt returned to Rockford to be closer to family. Survivors include nieces and nephews Sandra (John) Brinkman, Loretta (Phil) Hoaglund, Deborah (Bruce) Hartman, Robin Smith, Ronald Dobnick, and Daniel Dobnick. Also survived by many beloved great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by beloved wife of 53 years, Marion, and nephews James (Delores) Anderson, and Richard Temporali. Also predeceased by his brothers John, George and Robert and sisters Mary, Sophie (Victor) Temporali, Helen (Herbert) Anderson, and Jenny Reiselman. Services at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday Feb 3, 2016, at Julian-Poorman-Welte. Visitation from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given in care of the family.
