The following was written by Roger.

Roger S. Anderson
Born Dec. 6, 1926 in Rockford, IL.

Son of Stanley R.J. Anderson and Josephine J. (Armon). Went to East High School until he left at 17 to join the Marine Corps on Dec. 9, 1943, Began Active service 26 January, 1944. Served in the Mariana Islands, Sipan, Tinian and Okonowa. Discharged at Great Lakes, IL. 13 April, 1946. Worked at Greenlee Bros. Married his beloved Donn E. (Clift) June 26, 2025 Had twin Sons, John and Jeffrey March 9, 2026 followed by daughter Maurene. Dec. 29, 1952.
The years that followed were filled with raising family and trying to make our standard of living as best as we could on a very strict budget. Our first home was a Rosenquist and Schabker Home, what was then in North Park. With help from Donna's aunt Mabel. She gave us $300.00 and Donna won $300.00 at a bingo game. We managed to get the down payment $901.23 on a G.I. Bill for this small home. This home had 2 bedrooms, bath, living room, utility room and a kitchen of course. No garage or basement, but at least it was a starting home for us.
This period time, I worked at Greenlee Brosoff of Eleventh St. in Rockford. I started therre in Sept. of 1947. Worked as a time keeper in the shop. Later had a chance to go into the Engineering Dept. First as a time keeper then on a program to be a detail draftsman. My starting pat was .55 cents an hour. Not much but at least I was working. Working there was a real experience, so many nice people (More like a family) We had cook outs, played a little golf and numerous cook outs at the parks (I'm repeating myself). So many friendships were started that lasted for years. To name a few. Jim Ring, Jerry Julin, Ernie Freden, Harry Hass, Fay Nelson, Wilbur Dudson, Don Hitzue, Jerry Meyers and more.
