History and locations of the funeral home
1908-1917- Known as the McAllister Funeral Home located at 321 Mulberry
1917-1926- Additional location at 110 South 3rd Street also called McAllister Funeral Home. Martin H. McAllister was the sole owner during these times.
1927-1935- Walter Julian and Martin McAllister formed a partnership in the location at 110 South 3rd. Street.
1935-1949- Martin McAllister, Walter Julian and William Poorman formed a partnership in the current location at 304 North 5th Street under the name McAllister-Julian-Poorman.
1950-1970- The McAllister name was dropped and the firm was called Julian-Poorman under the sole ownership of William Poorman.
1970-1985- The business was sold to David Klontz, John Long, Roger Anderson and James Welte. The business continued to operate under the name Julian-Poorman.
1985-1990- The business was sold to James E. Welte and in 1987 the name was changed to Julian-Poorman-Welte. The business is owned by James E. Welte and his Wife Sandra Spaulding Klontz Welte, Sandra being the step daughter of David Klontz.
1990-2007- Jeffrey S. Welte joined the business after finishing mortuary school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and is a full partner in the business. Jaime Welte-Finch joined the business in 1992, becoming a licensed funeral director in 1993. Jaime is now a stay at home mom, but continues to help at the funeral home.
2007- James E. Welte and Jeffrey S. Welte continue to operate the business as a partnership under the name Julian-Poorman-Welte at it's current location of 304 North Fifth Street.
